Volunteers Get Carjacked
My political campaign experience is limited, but far greater than most teenagers. I’ve volunteered in the past, but it wasnt until this summer that I received an internship with a local governor campaign. Being active in the campaign has not only taught be a great deal about the political process, but it’s also given me many opportunities to talk with supporters and voters. I sometimes have the opportunity to make phone calls to volunteers about events and such, but today was probably one of the more humorous of those experiences. The conversation was as follows:
Me: May I speak with _______name______?
Volunteer: This is she?
Me: Hi my name is Megan with the ** *** **** campaign, how are you today?
Volunteer: You want money right?
Me: No ma’am, I’m calling about volunteer opportunities…
Volunteer: Driving downtown?
Me: Yes ma’am but we also have opportunities at the ***** County Fair
Volunteer: And get carjacked?
That conversation alone made my day!
